The at the Buna Public Library was designed to create a dedicated, hands-on learning space that supports science, technology, engineering, and math education for students of all ages. As part of the Eagle Scout service requirement with the Boy Scouts of America, the project focused on planning, coordination, and execution that delivered lasting community impact.

The project included organizing the STEM lab layout, assembling workstations, and preparing the space for tools such as computers, electronics kits, and future makerspace equipment. The result is a functional, flexible lab that supports student exploration, digital literacy, and workforce skill development—strengthening the library’s role as a modern learning hub for the Buna community.

The Buna Public Library is pleased to host a Texas America 250 public-history exhibit, developed by the Texas State Library and Archives Commission in partnership with cultural and historical institutions across the state.

This exhibit highlights historically significant “Texas Treasures” and explores Texas’s role in the nation’s story over 250 years. Presented as a traveling display, the exhibit features professionally curated panels with images of archival documents, historical photographs, and artifacts drawn from state and partner collections.

Visitors are invited to explore how local and statewide Texas history connects to the broader America 250 commemoration—the upcoming semiquincentennial of the United States. The exhibit is designed to be accessible, informative, and engaging for all ages, offering a concise but meaningful look at Texas’s contributions to the American experience.

Exhibit highlights include:

  • Archival materials and images from across Texas history

  • Stories that connect Texas communities to national milestones

  • A public-history display suitable for families, students, and lifelong learners

The Texas America 250 exhibit is on display in the library lobby during regular library hours. Admission is free, and no registration is required.

We encourage community members, educators, and visitors to stop by, explore the exhibit, and reflect on the people, places, and events that have shaped both Texas and the nation.

Echoes of Remembrance

In memory of that fateful day,

When tragedy struck in a devastating way,

September 11, a date etched in time,

A moment that changed the course of our prime.

Twin towers stood, proud and tall,

Symbols of hope, for one and all,

But in an instant, they came crashing down,

Leaving rubble, and a sorrowful town.

Lives lost, dreams shattered, hearts broken,

Families torn, futures unspoken,

The brave first responders, who rushed to the scene,

Risking all, to save those unseen.

The flames that engulfed, the smoke that did rise,

The ashes that fell, from the clear blue skies,

The world watched in horror, as the towers did sway,

And in their collapse, a piece of us did stray.

But even in death, there’s a story to tell,

Of courage, love, and a spirit that dwells,

In the hearts of those, who perished that day,

Their memories live on, never fade away.

May we honor them, and the sacrifices made,

May we strive for peace, and a world not afraid,

May the lessons of 9/11, forever be told,

And in our hearts, may love and hope never grow old.

Announcing a New Seed Library!

Did you know that the Buna library now has a "Seed Library"? Bring your own seeds to add to our collection, or take some home to plant in your garden!

This seed library was generously donated by DR Farms. Bring seeds noting the kind, that you don’t need to the library or DR Farms. Then they will bring them to us!

Right now we currently have seeds in the library for a fall garden. This includes mustard greens, green beans, squash, etc.

Don’t know the first thing about gardening? That’s ok, we have gardening books!
